HeliumReborn is now the default browser in
Nemo Mobile. I haven't done any development on it lately, but people contributing to Nemo have done couple of really nice contributions. The most important one was the addition of pinch-to-zoom functionality. It works quite nicely.
Since some people using N9 with Harmattan might also be interested in trying out HeliumReborn, I grabbed the latest sources from its Github repository, and packaged it for Harmattan. HeliumReborn 1.1.3 debian package is downloadable from here.
Hi Vesku,
ReplyDeleteThanks for nice and easy browser, I have a problem when I visit my mail pages like gmail or outlook, when I put the cursor in username and password boxes the keyboard doesn't not comes up to be able to type username or passwords, I forgot to say I installed it on my N9.
Thanks for helping me out of this
I do not know why, but for some reason you need to tap the text field for a second time to open virtual keyboard in some text fields. This at least worked for me in gmail.
DeleteIt crashes when visiting http://lenta.ru — On N9, MeeGo.
ReplyDeleteI tried the same site yesterday and today - No crash. Do you have flash or any other additional plugins installed on your device?
DeleteCan HeliumReborn get tabs?
ReplyDeleteTabs would be cool feature. I'd like to implement them, but at the moment I do not have time to work on HeliumReborn. So unless somebody else does them, they are not going to be done anytime soon.
Deletewill there be any updates?
ReplyDeleteCurrently I'm not having time or energy to work on HeliumReborn, but I'm hoping towards spring I would have some time to work on it. Also nobody else has done any new contributions lately so there isn't really anything new to release.
DeleteIf there will be updates in the code, I will definitely find time to update the Harmattan package also.
hi!, does Helium reborn support add-ons like firefox or chrome or another type of plugins??
ReplyDeleteAs HeliumReborn is quite minimal browser, there is no Add-on type of API for extensions that integrate with the browser, so no possibility for AddBlock type of extensions.
DeleteFor the content there is NPAPI plugins, for example Flash plugin might work. However, I do not think anyone has really tested.
